KFC South Africa Adds R3 Million Hope to the SOS Children’s Villages
KFC has committed to an inspiring donation in the fight against hunger to coincide with World Hunger Day this Friday, October 16th.
During the recent ICC Champions Trophy KFC raised R220,000 for the SOS Children’s Villages through their KFC Add Hope 6’s Campaign, where money was donated to the charity each time a Protea player hit a 6 during their matches.
Says Keith, MD of KFC: “KFC has been inspired by the South African cricketers’ assistance in raising R220,000 for the SOS Children’s Villages and has decided to extend our commitment to the fight to alleviate hunger by donating a further R2 780 000 to the SOS Children’s Villages.”
The SOS Children’s Village is a private, charitable, social development organisation that has looked after orphaned and abandoned children for 27 years by building family units that house eight to ten children raised as brothers and sisters under the love and guidance of an SOS Mother. There are currently around 995 children living in SOS Children’s Villages in Pretoria, Johannesburg, Pietermaritzburg, Mthatha, Port Elizabeth, Cape Town, Nelspruit and Rustenburg.
The R3 million is going to be used to provide all 995 children in the SOS Children’s Villages with 3 nutritious and healthy meals per day for an entire year.
Commenting on the donation, Rae Bagus from the SOS Children’s Villages said: “We are overwhelmed by KFC’s incredibly generous contribution. It is going to provide our children with the nourishment and security they need to develop healthily, a right we wish all children worldwide had access to.”
Keith handed over the check for R3 Million to Rae Bagus from the SOS Children’s Villages on World Hunger Day, October 16, 2009.
